The Writers Remise

Would you like some time and peace, in simple accommodation, close to the beach, to write your …?

… is a triangular brick building at the bottom of our garden, under a large Eucalypt Grandis tree, surrounded on two sides by lanes, and in the heart of South Fremantle.

The Remise is quirky, so straight to a potential hiccup – the loo is outside, and the brick paving is uneven.

Inside is a shower, hair and body products, towels for beach and not beach, hairdryer.

There are kitchenette facilities – microwave, toaster, kettle, tea and coffee, crockery, cutlery. Then the rest is an open area with a table, Wi-Fi, books, whiteboard, comfortable chair/s, lovely natural lighting, TV, Bluetooth speaker.

You can come and go via the garden or via your own door which opens into a lane.

Upstairs is a mezzanine bedroom – Queen size, linen provided. There is now a second potential hiccup – you need to watch out, so you don’t bang your head on a beam when going down. Otherwise there’s full standing headroom (unless you’re over 6ft 4”).

The birds are noisy.

Outside. It’s five-hundred-metres to the beach, and an extensive footpath goes north and south, or there are two groynes for walking. The Remise is very close to “Wild Bakery” and South Terrace where there are countless cafés, bars, restaurants. It’s a twenty-minute saunter into Fremantle. Parking will either be in the drive or on the street. An ancient cat and a black Labrador live on the property – in case you have any allergy issues. We keep them out of the Remise unless a guest invites them in.

There is a $100 cleaning fee no matter whether you stay one night or two weeks. The nightly rate is cheap and fluctuates – depending on many things – but doesn’t fluctuate seasonally.

Maximum of two people who sleep together.

No children – the stairs are not kiddy-compatible, and the upstairs windows are unbarred.

But feel free to invite people over.

You’re welcome to sit in the garden. If you choose the front garden, you’ll have to chat to all the pedestrians and there are a few.

Check-in and check-out times are invariably 100% flexible because this isn’t a hotel.

So if you’re interested, please email with your needs, dates etc.
